Three ShopRite locations in New Jersey are adding artificial intelligence technology promising to eliminate checkout lines by using smart shopping carts that automatically track purchases.

ShopRite stores in Flemington, Clinton and Greenwich are rolling out Instacart’s Caper Carts, which feature interactive screens that monitor spending, apply digital coupons and enable customers to complete purchases without waiting in traditional checkout lines.

The company announced the rollout in September.

The Greenwich location will receive approximately 40 Caper Carts, while the Clinton and Flemington stores will each get 30 units, according to news outlets .
