Two human cases of Rocky Mountain spotted fever (RMSF) have been linked to the Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) region.
As of July, several dogs in the area tested positive for the tick-borne bacterial illness after visiting the Long Point Conservation Area in Norfolk County, the health unit previously said.

“Now we know of two human cases who had possible exposure in the Long Point area as well,” Dr. Jason Malenfant, medical officer of health, said in a board meeting on Wednesday.
The health unit said the confirmed case is one that was reported in August by a Quebec resident. A second, probable case, has been linked to an Ontario resident.
