A Norfolk judge is set to hear arguments at a hearing Friday about whether or not the city of Quincy can install two statues of Catholic saints at the new public safety building.

The American Civil Liberties Union is representing a “multifaith group of Quincy residents and taxpayers” in suing the city over the statues which they say violate the Massachusetts Constitution by promoting one religion over another and costing taxpayers at least $850,000 dollars, according to the lawsuit .

The two statues in question depict St. Michael and St. Florian, the patron saints of police and fire departments.
