BAY CITY, MI — Tony W. McGillen may have robbed a Bay County bank of nearly $8,000, but all he managed to buy with it — apart from a grill — was a long prison term. Not that prison is an unfamiliar home to the man, as he was on parole at the time of the heist.

U.S. District Judge Thomas L. Ludington on Thursday, Sept. 18, sentenced the 45-year-old McGillen to 152 months, or 12.6 years, in federal prison. Ludington further ordered McGillen to pay $8,101 in restitution to Sunrise Family Credit Union in Hampton Township, with $200 of that being applied to trauma counseling.
