CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 20-year-old Euclid man has died after being shot Monday near an apartment complex in Willoughby, authorities said.

Damonte K. Perry was pronounced dead Thursday at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he had been undergoing treatment since Tuesday, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.

Police said Perry was shot around 4 p.m. Monday near the Hamlets of Willoughby apartment complex at 1337 Fox Run Drive.

A suspect was taken into custody in the area about three hours later, and investigators said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
