Two years after a fire ravaged the site, there have been delays with the rehabilitation of the Wheatley water treatment plant, the Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission heard on Thursday.
In a brief verbal update during the virtual meeting, Darren Galbraith, the utility’s general manager, said the temporary water treatment trailers currently at the site will be taken offline next month in preparation for winter.

“We will be going back on Leamington’s water system again,” he said. “Originally, we anticipated the rehabilitation to be done Aug. 31. There’s been some delays, which we really did anticipate with a project to this scope, and the number of people involved.
“So, now we’re looking at anticipating some time in November.”
