The Live Like Luke Canada Crossing may be over, but the momentum it created towards building a local hospice remains strong.

Just four weeks after riding his bike from Vancouver to Port Dover and raising almost $300,000 in the process, Dan Johnson was at Riversyde 83 in Simcoe on Monday to accept a cheque on behalf of the soon-to-be-built Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice.

Johnson and his family completed their 5,000-kilometre, 48-day journey in support of the project, and to honour their late son Luke, who died following a lengthy battle with cancer in July of last year at the age of eight.
