POUGHKEEPSIE – The city is launching its first five-year paving plan under the leadership of Mayor Yvonne Flowers. The plan, according to City Administrator Joe Donat, is being released to the public in anticipation of incremental paving work resuming later this month.

The five-year plan seeks to preserve roadway infrastructure, improve safety, minimize vehicle abuse and damage, and reduce the long-term costs associated with maintaining the roadways.

“This paving project is more than just fixing roads,” Mayor Flowers said, continuing, “It’s about building a better, safer, and more connected City of Poughkeepsie. When we invest in infrastructure, we invest in our people, and we’re already seeing the difference with our sidewalk improvements happening across the city.”
