WALPOLE ISLAND FIRST NATION – Court records have shed light on who died and who has been charged with impaired driving causing death following a fatal hit-and-run crash here last weekend.

Police said earlier this week a pedestrian was rushed to hospital after they were struck by a vehicle while walking on Tecumseh Road shortly before 1 a.m. on Sept. 13. The pedestrian, an unidentified 22-year-old Wallaceburg resident, died in hospital.

On Tuesday, Lambton OPP said an unidentified 25-year-old Walpole Island resident was charged with impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after a fatal crash, driving while over the legal limit, and driving while suspended. Police didn’t identify the accused, citing a publication ban.
