Palestinian UN envoy Riyad Mansour on Friday said Washington’s visa ban on Palestinian officials threatens to bar Mahmoud Abbas from addressing the General Assembly.

Donald Trump’s White House has already refused to grant a visa to the Palestinian Authority President Abbas, and 80 other Palestinian officials for the general assembly session, which begins on Tuesday.

Addressing a plenary meeting in New York on Friday, Mansour said the Palestinian delegation was considering their next move and insisted on their right to be issued visas to attend the annual gathering of world leaders.

The UN has urged the US to uphold treaty obligations.
