Citing the help of media coverage, St. Tammany Parish Coroner's officials said Friday they were able to contact family members of two women who recently died but had no local family.
In both cases, the women died of natural causes.
"News media play an important role in solving crimes and mysteries of all types," Coroner Christopher Tape said in a news release. "I’m very grateful to those who helped spread the word about these women, and to those who came forward with vital contact information."
Dale Serene Martin, 67, was found dead in her Cedarwood Drive home in Mandeville on July 15. Martin was born a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, but the government there had no record of her and coroner's officials couldn't find her next of kin.
