EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Mattel Inc. is taking its Brave Barbie initiative global with another character.
Timed with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the toymaker unveiled the newest Brave Barbie dolls and, for the first time, a Brave Ken doll. The dolls are designed to bring comfort and representation to children battling cancer and autoimmune diseases, Mattel announced this week .
According to Mattel, Brave Barbie has been distributed exclusively through nonprofit partners, with more than 120,000 dolls reaching children worldwide since its launch in 2013. This year, Mattel will distribute 10,000 dolls through partnerships with organizations including Ronald McDonald House Charities, Starlight Children’s Foundation, CureSearch for Children’s Cancer and international groups such as Koala
