TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa City Council will soon consider a plan to build a 250-foot tall observation ferris wheel in the channel district.
Developer Tony Miller said he wants to build the Tampa WOW!, or Wheel Over Water, just north of the Florida Aquarium.
It would feature climate-controlled gondolas and a ride that would last 20 to 30 minutes.
Miller said he doesn't need taxpayer money to make it happen, just council approval to allow it. The cost would be around $20 million, which would be privately funded.
Miller said if approved, he would like to open 'Tampa Wow' by fall of next year.
