During this time of year, many preparations are being made for the High Holy Days ahead. In between the shopping and logistical planning, time should be spent to prepare children for the season that is to come.

Rabbi Matt Eisenberg of Temple Israel Ner Tamid in Mayfield Heights told the Cleveland Jewish News that it’s important to establish with children the underpinnings of what the High Holy Days season is about.

“I think it is important to ask a child ‘Are there things this last year that you accomplished that you are very, very proud of?’” he said. “And then the opposite, ‘Are there things that you did that you are not so proud of?’”
