Some of Chase Hall’s earliest memories are of being on film sets, watching his dad, uncles and grandfather prepare for scenes as professional stuntmen. Growing up surrounded by filmmaking, pursuing it himself felt almost inevitable.

“I was just so exposed to it when I was a child,” Hall said. “Because of that my love of film evolved into what it is today and what my passion is today. I’ve grown to realize how much I care about storytelling and how that can early affect audiences.”

Now that passion is opening new doors. Hall, an emerging Blackfeet screenwriter from Browning, is one of three Indigenous filmmakers receiving full funding and mentorship from top directors, producers and screenwriters at the inaugural Lone Peak Film Festival in Big Sky running from Sept. 19–21.
