MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Drought conditions continue to prompt conservation notices from municipalities across the region, including Vermont’s Capital City.
The dry weather is putting a strain on nearby Berlin Pond, which supplies the city with drinking water.
Officials are asking residents to voluntarily conserve water at home and at work. “It is for general awareness, just to make sure if there’s anything you can do to conserve water, please do. Maybe it’s a shorter shower, maybe it’s holding off on watering your lawn or washing your car,” said Interim Montpelier City Manager Kelly Murphy.
She says water levels would need to drop another six inches to trigger mandatory water restrictions.
