SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The South Burlington School District says it’s urging parents to discuss playground safety with their kids after a student was accidentally stuck with a syringe on a playground.

It happened on Thursday at the Rick Marcotte Elementary School in South Burlington. The superintendent says all classrooms reviewed rules, including avoiding playing along the fence line, never touching anything sharp or unfamiliar, and reporting anything unsafe to an adult.

The school says they are meeting with the police on Monday to discuss efforts to keep school grounds safe.
