Jimmy Kimmel has been handed a firm ultimatum by Sinclair Broadcast Group, the largest owner of ABC affiliate stations in the United States, following his abrupt and controversial suspension.

The message from the broadcaster is clear: either apologise for his comments, or stay off the air.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! was taken off air “indefinitely” after the host made polarising comments about Charlie Kirk and US President Donald Trump after the prominent MAGA figure was assassinated in Utah.

During Kimmel’s opening monologue on Monday night’s show, the host spoke of Kirk’s death and 22-year-old Tyler Robinson who has been charged with aggravated murder following the assassination.
