SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - A third suspect is now in custody in connection with a deadly Midlands shooting earlier this summer.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said 18-year-old Darrone Terrell McCray Jr. was arrested Thursday at a home in Florence. The agency said it was assisted by the US Marshals Task Force in the arrest.

McCray is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the July 1 shooting death of 20-year-old Cameron Pearson. Pearson was found dead at a home on Old Manning Road after what authorities called “an altercation between acquaintances.”

Two other suspects in the case, 18-year-old Nyasia Vaughn and a 16-year-old, were also arrested after deputies stopped a vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the shooting.
