PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Following controversy that led to the Preschool For All director’s resignation, Multnomah County is seeking a replacement for the role.

The county announced that they launched the recruitment process on Wednesday. The new director will be tasked with managing the childcare program that has grown by more than 70% in the past year, according to officials.

“Preschool for All needs strong leadership to reach its goal of providing seats for every preschooler in Multnomah County,” Chief Operating Officer Christopher Neal said in a release. “We will not stop until we find a leader with the drive, expertise and heart to help us continue growing the universal program this community demands and deserves.”

Former Director Leslee Barnes exited the role in early August. About
