LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Nelson County sheriff is no longer facing felony charges in a case that cast doubt on his department in early 2025.
Prosecutors dismissed the case against Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa , who was originally charged with abuse of public trust, theft by deception and official misconduct.
The allegations centered around complaints from two detectives in spring 2025, who said Chief Deputy Brandon Bryan sold cars from the office's impound warehouse to a friend, and that Pineiroa didn't hold him responsible.
Bryan did plead guilty two misdemeanors unrelated to theft, and admitted to administrative paperwork errors. He will pay fines as a result.
Bryan's attorney, Michael Niemietz, told WHAS11 News the chief deputy "chose to accept responsibility for the errors and to pay fine
