Haldimand OPP have traced several recent ‘swatting’ incidents – fake emergency calls – to an underage person and a threatening online group.

Police say from Sept. 2-4, OPP responded to several of the hoax calls that are designed to create alarm and stress, drawing police resources and placing people in danger.

Officers were able to identify a young person as the culprit but found that person was being threatened and coerced into participating in the incidents. No charges have been laid.
