EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Students at Lakeside High School attempted a walkout Friday morning in support of a teacher who was arrested Wednesday.

Authorities on Wednesday said Jerry Meitin was arrested and booked in the Columbia County Detention Center on a charge of terroristic threats. His bond was $5,100.

According to an arrest warrant, he threatened he’d shoot his students multiple times if he had a gun. That was done “in reckless disregard of the risk of causing terror,” the warrant states.

Students on Friday attempted a walkout, but administrators and police blocked and escorted them back to class.
