Jackson Mayor John Horhn will present "American Idol" winner and Mississippi native Jamal Roberts with a key to the city.

Roberts, an elementary school P.E. teacher, won the "American Idol" title in a record-breaking vote in May. In the months since the confetti fell and Ryan Seacrest called his name, Roberts has kept busy touring and recording. His single "Heal" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart.

On July 24, Roberts released a single titled "Mississippi."

Shortly after his win, Alcorn State University announced "An Evening with Jamal Roberts." The 21-year-old-and-up event will take place in the Jackson Convention Complex on Friday night Sept. 19.
