SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Three leading candidates in South Fulton’s mayoral race took the stage Thursday night in a public debate hosted by a local political action committee, but current Mayor Khalid Kamau was not among them — excluded because he announced his candidacy after the group’s application deadline.
The debate, hosted by the Georgia Men for Democracy Now, a bipartisan PAC, featured former Mayor Bill Edwards, District 2 Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs, and Joseph Adeyemi — the top three fundraisers by the PAC's June 30 deadline. Kamau announced his candidacy on August 18 , well past the application cutoff to be included in the event.
