Housing projects in Brantford ramped up in the first half of 2025 but it was the start of construction on the new Hilton Foods plant on Henry Street that pushed building activity into the bustling range.
“It wasn’t a crazy start to the year,” said Brantford’s chief building official, Andy McMahon, this week. “but after that, things got really good and July was just crazy.

“This year is looking good and could even be one of our busiest yet.”
A big part of that is the housing industry, which slowed in 2023 and 2024 after booming in 2022, and the June announcement of the advent of the Hilton Foods plant, which will generate about $107 million in construction work and become a functioning plant valued at almost $200 million.
