Coronado Unified School District (CUSD) recently welcomed Haissam Kouli as the new Student Board Member for the 2025-2026 academic year. Kouli is eager to bring his unique experiences and insights to the district’s leadership.

Kouli was born in Seattle and moved to New Jersey as a young child. He and his family then moved to Coronado, where he began attending school at just five years old. This background has provided Kouli with a deep connection to the community, shaped by his experiences as the son of Syrian immigrants, which has given him “exposure to the Arab culture of San Diego.”
