MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The old Vose School building in Maryville has been repurposed into a new mini apartment complex, and the ribbon cutting for the new housing units was Friday.
“It’s sat empty for several decades without a purpose, but in partnership with the City of Alcoa, we had a proposal approved to turn it into a four-unit residential apartment building,” said Jordan Wilkerson, co-owner of Reagan Design and Construction.
It is the oldest standing school building in Blount County and had been unused for over 20 years before the new apartment project started. It is on the national register for historic places.
Wilkerson said that while this project was complicated, it is worth it to preserve the Maryville history.
