The Allegheny County Airport Authority approved just over $8.5 million in construction funds for Pittsburgh International Airport’s new terminal as it prepares to open.

The funds are accounted for in the terminal’s $1.7 billion budget, airport executive Paul Hoback said.

Airport CEO Christina Cassotis shared during the authority’s monthly board meeting that the new terminal was 94% complete, and that its state-of-the-art 11-lane security checkpoint on the departures level had been tested and approved for use.

Next month, workers will install the terminal’s remaining signs and digital screens, complete the terrazzo flooring artwork and finish building the elevators and escalators, she said.
