Seven Northeastern states, including Pennsylvania, have banded together to form a new public health coalition that will make its own vaccine recommendations in response to the Trump administration's changes to federal vaccine policy.

The Northeast Public Health Collaborative also includes New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and Rhode Island.

The effort resembles one on the other side of the U.S.: the West Coast Health Alliance, a collective made up of California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.

The two coalitions are composed solely of Democratic-led states.

Both groups formed as a response to changing federal guidance on vaccine accessibility, including the latest COVID-19 vaccine, which is in the early stages of its rollout to pharmacies.
