BRENHAM, Texas (KBTX) - Downtown Brenham was filled with hope Thursday night as the sounds of praise and worship echoed through the streets for conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Hundreds of people from across Washington County gathered for a prayer vigil honoring Kirk, who was shot and killed last week in Orem, Utah.

Pastor Jon Davies with Brenham Bible Church said the vigil was all about community coming together in prayer and praise.

“As we talked about doing something for Charlie Kirk, it really wasn’t about Charlie Kirk as much as it was about what Charlie stood for,” said Davies. “When you really examine his life and pull back the curtain, he was a man of faith.”
