SALT LAKE CITY — A police officer was injured while responding to a trespassing call in downtown Salt Lake City, according to police.
The officer was speaking with the alleged trespasser at 550 W. 500 South at about 12:30 p.m. when the officer was attacked with a "blunt object," according to Salt Lake City Police Lt. Brandon Shearer.
Other police officers, who were en route to the address in response to the original trespass call, arrived soon after and were able to take the person into custody.
Shearer said the injured officer was taken to the hospital in "fair" condition, meaning the person is expected to be OK.
The suspect was arrested for investigation of assault on a police officer and trespassing.
