STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Officials said that a man's pants helped stop him from trying to run away from deputies in Stafford County on Thursday.

In a news release, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) said that deputies were finishing a report at the Comfort Inn Motel on Salisbury Drive around 9:10 p.m. when a female approached them and said that a man was being "inappropriate."

"Deputies would notice the male in question and instantly knew who he was," SCSO said.

Deputies had already explained to the man once that if he trespassed on the property again, he would be arrested. They approached him and told him he was under arrest, at which time SCSO said he exclaimed, "Oh no!" and started running away -- however, his escape attempt was foiled.
