OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Dozens of people took advantage of the nice weather this morning and took a walk through the park to raise funds for senior centers, sponsored by the Nebraska Office on Aging .
In Benson Park, World War II veteran McKinley Ray, age 101, took a walk like he does every day.
He said there was a time when he would walk out of the park and around the neighborhood.
“Well, as I get older, had to slow it down a little bit, I usually start from here and go all the way around the park. Before I got a little older, I went all the way to Military (Avenue) and would cut across 66th and come back around,” he said.
Ray is joined by dozens of other walkers for the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging Step Out for Seniors Walkathon.
