NORFOLK, Va. — Employees with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore competed for bragging rights in this year's "Forklift Rodeo."

Workers picked up their haul, dodged sitting pallets, and raced back to the finish line to be crowned champion.

Christopher Tan, CEO of the food bank, said it showcased the skills of the men and women who make the food bank run as part of their Hunger Action Month.

"They are just incredible people, truly incredible," said Tan. "Of the 24 million pounds we provide to our neighbors in need, they are moving 18 to 19 pounds of that every year."

Those workers may go into overdrive next month, as food banks across the country prepare for more SNAP restrictions that will go into effect on October 1.
