JANESVILLE, Wis. (WKOW) — A new sports and convention center is set to transform Janesville, bringing benefits beyond athletics. City leaders are optimistic about its potential economic impact.

The Woodman's Sports and Convention Center, spanning 140,000 square feet and costing nearly $47 million, was primarily funded by donations.

The facility is designed for a variety of events, including sports tournaments, and features a community center. It includes two hockey arenas and four basketball courts.

"Its designed to support our local businesses," said Kevin Lahner, city manager.

Jeannie Cullen, co-president at JP Cullen, emphasized community collaboration.
