HICKORY COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) - A Hickory County volunteer fire department is calling for help.
Rural fire departments, in their simplest form, are neighbors helping neighbors. They have full-time jobs and have decided to step up to help their communities when needed.
Cross Timbers Rural Fire has volunteers.
“This Community depends on its neighbors, our community, that’s what keeps this fire department afloat,” said Barry White Jr., Fire Chief of Cross Timbers Rural Fire.
What it doesn’t have is some volunteers who can help at calls that come in during the day when current volunteers can’t get away from their full-time jobs.
