PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The City of Pikeville kicked off its annual autumn event Friday, inviting folks downtown for the Appalachian Moonshine, Music, and Makers Festival.

The event brings merchants, local food trucks, moonshine companies, and area musicians to Main Street for a two-day celebration of Appalachian culture.

“It’s so important to make sure that our children know where we came from,” said Jill Dotson with the City of Pikeville. “That we can still celebrate those crafts and those arts and to be out with your family and to enjoy the mountains and all that we have to offer in Appalachia.”

Organizers say this year’s celebration includes a lot of crowd favorites and a few new flavors to provide a little something for everyone.
