PONTIAC, Ill. (WMBD) -- Kevin Valois and Hailey Woock took over the Pontiac Marching Band program two years ago, both fresh out of college.

"Coming into a role, especially a new community, a new band program, I think I always start there. What is the culture like? What do the students feel like?" Valois, the Director of Bands at Pontiac, said.

"When you come into a transition and we're young and you never know how they're going to react to us, but they've really given us a lot of trust," Woock, the Assistant Director of Bands at Pontiac, said.

The band director tandem has sparked a new appreciation for music in the students.

"It's definitely been a shift and it's one I'm happy with. I'm glad there's momentum," Megan Wiechmann, a senior drum major, said. "I'm glad they're keeping up wit
