CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - An arrest has been made after about three dozen drug overdoses were reported in less than 24 hours in Charleston.
Anton Jeffries, 31, of Akron, Ohio was charged with possession with the intent to deliver fentanyl.
Deputy Chief Jason Webb said Jeffries recently got out of federal prison and had a warrant out in Cabell County, West Virginia.
City officials said between noon Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, overdoses were reported -- mostly on the West Side of Charleston. At least 30 people went to the hospital, but no deaths have been reported from the overdoses.
“If you need help, I’ll help you,” Mayor Amy Goodwin said. “I promise you we will help you, but if you are here to puddle your poison in the city of Charleston and commit crimes, you’ll be held accountabl
