CLEMSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Clemson University is celebrating America’s upcoming birthday with a living-history display during Family Weekend.
SC250, a commission created to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, is bringing history to life this weekend with family-friendly activities at Carillon Garden.
On Friday, reenactors shared real-life stories from patriots during the 18th century. Carolyn Nations, who played Rebecca Pickens, said kids learn better when they can hold something tangible in their hands.
“You can teach more children history playing and doing things like that, than if you sit down and say, ‘Hey listen to this 5-minute story,’” she said. “You’ve brought it to life with them.”
Besides interacting with reenactors, families and students also go
