TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Tampa Tiger Bay Club hosted a discussion for several elected leaders on Friday to weigh in on an idea from Gov. Ron DeSantis to reduce and eventually eliminate the property tax.
Hillsborough Commissioner Joshua Wostal would like lawmakers to focus on relief only for primary homes.
“Only the homesteaded properties and offer them the relief, which is about $1.4 billion a year of our local revenue source. It would take about a 3.5 cent sales tax to offer that relief throughout the county,” Wostal said.
