A public memorial service for Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist who was fatally shot on September 10, will take place on Sunday in Glendale, Arizona. The service is expected to draw tens of thousands of attendees at State Farm Stadium, including notable figures such as President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
The event, titled "Building a Legacy, Remembering Charlie Kirk," is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time, which is 2 p.m. ET. Kirk was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University as part of his "The American Comeback Tour," which aimed to foster public debate on college campuses.
President Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks during the service. He has also announced plans to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
Attendees are encouraged to wear red, white, or blue in honor of Kirk. The memorial service will be streamed live on ABC News Live and will also be available on various streaming platforms. Additionally, live blog coverage will provide real-time updates on the event.
The Department of Homeland Security has classified the memorial service as a Special Event Assessment Rating (SEAR) Level 1 event, indicating its significance at a national level.
Kirk, who was 31 years old at the time of his death, is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two young children. Erika Kirk has been appointed as the new CEO of Turning Point USA, the organization founded by her husband, and she is also expected to speak at the service.
Other speakers include Donald Trump Jr., Tucker Carlson, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
Authorities have identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the suspect in Kirk's murder. Robinson has been charged with multiple counts, including aggravated murder, and prosecutors have indicated they will seek the death penalty.
