AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - An Akron Public Schools (APS) employee resigned on Friday after selling the school district’s lawn mowers on Facebook Marketplace.

The employee was suspended at the school board meeting earlier this week.

According to the agenda from the school board meeting, administrator Steven Keenan traded in 11 APS lawn mowers to a vendor without the board’s approval so he could buy new lawn mowers.

Keenan then bought seven of the traded-in lawn mowers under a “friends and family” discount with the vendor, according to the agenda. Keenan paid $5,693.32 for the lawn mowers.

The agenda said Keenan then listed five of the seven lawn mowers for sale on Facebook Marketplace. He asked for a total sales price of $14,700.
