MEDFIELD – What looked like a barnburner turned into a one-sided affair for a strong Medfield squad Friday night.
Thanks to a strong running game, a timely passing attack and a swarming team defense, the Warriors pulled away from nonleague opponent Hopkinton 35-12 at home.
“I was really impressed with our defensive effort,” said Medfield coach Erik Ormberg. “Hopkinton was coming off a huge win. (Patrice Petit Frere) was coming off a huge yardage total, so we wanted to contain him. We were concerned about making sure (Alex Piccioli) wasn’t going to run wild as well. … Very, very happy where we are after three weeks into the season.”
Medfield (3-0) started with the ball and ran it six times for 52 yards, capped by a nine-yard keeper for junior Owen Sokolowski to go up 6-0 with 8:44 to go
