The Calgary Canucks have appointed Mat Robinson as their new head coach.

Robinson brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and leadership experience to the Alberta Junior Hockey League role. A former professional defenceman, he represented Canada — including at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, where he helped secure a bronze medal, and again at the 2022 Games in Beijing.

His reputation as a leader on and off the ice, coupled with his strong commitment to player development, makes him a natural fit to guide the Canucks as they build on their legacy.

Calgary opens the regular season on Saturday (5 p.m.) against the visiting Canmore Eagles at Ken Bracko Arena.

Supporting Robinson behind the bench will be a strong coaching staff:

Brandon Kozun, Associate Coach
