It’s been a staple in Nanaimo for four decades – and now, one of the city’s most beloved restaurants is entering a new chapter.

Gina’s Mexican Cafe has new owners, but they’re keeping the spirit, and spice, of the 40-year-old local favourite alive.

“I think the food we have is pretty interesting because there’s nothing else around town that has that,” said new owner Claudia Angeles, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Gustavo Ornelas.
