HAVERFORD – Matt Jones didn’t need a reminder of how fast a game can slip away. It was mentioned enough in practice this week that in last year’s meeting with Bonner & Prendergast, Jones’ Haverford School spotted the Friars 19 first-quarter points.
Friday, when Bonner found itself in a giving mood, Jones tried to help Haverford maximize the hurt. And when the game shifted for Bonner to make its push, Jones made sure the Fords held steady.
Jones’ first-half interception return was the most aesthetically pleasing of the touchdowns in a slog of a 28-24 Fords win, a game in which both teams capitalized on the others’ mistakes.
