KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee's Board of Trustees met Friday to discuss record enrollment and donations last year, reflecting what university leaders describe as strong momentum heading into the future.

UT's student enrollment has soared past 40,000 students for the first time ever, according to UT System President Randy Boyd.

UT received nearly $500 billion in donations across the university system in the last fiscal year.

"While the money's really nice and we're very appreciative, and it will go to a lot of good and be put to a lot of good uses," Boyd said. "But it is also a reflection of our alumni, and the community's support for our university, our leadership and our mission."
