Lawmakers are calling on UConn’s governing board to build student housing on the Avery Point campus in Groton. It’s the only UConn campus without it.
Lawmakers from both parties spoke at a UConn’s Board of Trustees meeting this week about the need for an investment in Avery Point.

“Millions and millions of dollars have gone into Stamford, Hartford and Waterbury, with $0 going into Avery Point," Senator Cathy Osten (D-Groton) said. "We think it's important for Avery Point to be treated just the same as the other regional campuses.”
Avery Point offers four-year degrees in English, General Studies, Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies. Senator Heather Somers (R-Groton) said the campus should have more options so stude
